Psalm 16:1
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. Psalms 16:1
I was preparing for mothers' group discussion this afternoon when i read this Psalms. Here, it seem that David is praying to God for help in the face of temptation to sin.
It struck me that David, a man who walk close to God, was at that point in time very conscious of the temptations to sin and his own weakness in overcoming such temptations. Thus he cried to God for His preservation and expressed his trust in Him.
Am I conscious of the many temptation to sin day in and day out? Am I aware of my weakness to fight such spiritual battles? If so, do i cried to the Almighty God for help? To be very honest, my answers to the above are often negative. Oh, how often my spiritual senses are dulled either by my sinful heart or by the vices of Satan. Wretched man that I am!
The apostle described in Eph 6:12 the fierce wrestling we have to engaged in while we sojourn upon this world. Many a time, we are careless even to recognise such battle fields though the Lord himself has warned so in his words that Satan had desire to have us, that he may sife us as wheat.
Open my eyes Lord that I may see how easy i can fall prey to sins. In seeing help me to flee to seek help in thee. Preserve me, O God!
